You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out

There’s this assumption, especially in founder circles, that if you’ve been in the game long enough, you’ve figured it all out.

Spoiler alert: we haven’t.

The other day, someone asked me, “How did you figure out your pricing strategy?”

I’ve been doing this for eight years: Running Cirface, building systems, and helping teams avoid burnout. You’d think I’d have a perfectly dialed-in pricing playbook by now.

But I looked at them and said, “I haven’t figured it out. I’m still refining it.”

And I’m proud of that answer. Because it means I’m still listening to the market, my customers, my team, and myself. It means I haven’t gotten lazy. Or arrogant. Or static.

The truth is, most of us are building the plane while we’re flying it.

I wake up, get the kids ready, do the morning chaos dance, then sit at my desk and ask:

“What do I need to do today to move this forward?”

That’s it. No magic. No guru formula. Just showing up and deciding not to quit.

A while back, we were pricing our workflow optimization service based on “per workflow.” It made sense to me—it’s what we do. But to the client? It sounded like jargon. They saw the price tag for one “workflow” and didn’t understand the value. They walked. A few did. That’s when I knew we needed to reframe how we positioned the offer.

The same is true for our monthly support. We used to offer a three-month block of hours, but when it ended, people didn’t renew. Why? because they didn’t see ongoing value. So we reworked that, too. We’re building in long-term support, deeper insights, and strategic touchpoints. We’re designing for retention, not just delivery.

None of that came from sitting in a boardroom with a whiteboard. It came from listening. Losing. Learning. Trying again.

And that’s what resilience is.

It’s not pushing through at all costs. It’s adapting.

It’s testing a new idea, watching it flop, and saying, “Alright. What’s next?”

It’s realizing that iteration is the process, not a detour from it.

Some days, I wish I had everything nailed down. I look at our new service lineup now and think, “This could be the one.” Maybe it is, or maybe not. I’m okay with either.

Because the truth is—I don’t have a Plan B.

This business is my legacy. It feeds my family and supports my team. People left safe jobs to work here because they believed in the vision, and I take that seriously.

When I feel the pressure to look like I’ve got it all together, I remind myself:

Confidence isn’t about pretending. It’s about showing you’re in the game, learning, adapting, and leading from the front.

And my faith grounds me in that.

God gave me the skills. The vision. The team. I don’t believe for a second that I’ve built this alone, so when things are foggy, when the numbers dip, when the feedback stings—I go back to Him.

I remind myself: this isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about being faithful with what I’ve been given.
